The Northwestern Wildcats added their eighth player for the 2016 recruiting class, Monday, when defensive lineman Alex Smith committed.

Northwestern gets commitment from 3-star DL Alex Miller

The Northwestern Wildcats football program hopes the 2015 campaign will be a bit easier on the eyes for their fans, and it all begins with winning the recruiting battles outside of the trenches.

The Wildcats hot streak continued Wednesday when they added three-star defensive lineman Alex Miller, who held offers from Boise State, Houston, Kansas, SMU, Texas Tech and Utah, among others.

Miller is the fourth recruit to commit in the last two days and shows the coaching staff’s renewed focus on adding the top players it can in hopes of improving the overall direction of the program.

The Wildcats have not been bowl eligible since 2012 and believe a strong 2015 can only further persuade recruits to join the 2016 recruiting class.

Northwestern faces the ever-stiff competition from the rest of the Big Ten conference, but will certainly be a force to be reckoned with in 2015 and beyond.
