The mystique surrounding Lord Stanley’s Cup is truly unparalleled.
Heck, most broadcasters won’t even say whether or not the Cup is in the building during a playoff game out of superstition, so imagine the how bonkers it must have been for the TSA who had to scan it through security.
Philip Pritchard, aka the Keeper of the Cup, chronicled the Cup’s pass through customs via Twitter as it made the aerial trek along with the Conn Smythe Trophy from Toronto to Chicago.

To Pritchard this probably nothing too surprising — he has been traveling with Stanley’s Mug for some 27 years now. But it was surely an exciting sight for any hockey nut preparing for what could be the final game of this season’s Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The two trophys are now at a hotel room in Chicago in anticipation of the Blackhawks winning Monday’s Game 6 tilt against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Of course, we won’t even know if the Cup is in the building at United Center until it looks like the Blackhawks are for sure going to win.
