USA Basketball trims U19 roster to 16, more cuts to come

USA Basketball announced Monday the cuts from 21 players to 16, following four training sessions over the past few days.

The players cut from the program were: 2016 prospects Seventh Woods and T.J. Leaf, as well as Malik Pope (San Diego State), Silas Melson (Gonzaga) and Eric Paschall (Villanova).

The following players did make the roster:

  • Justin Bibbs (G) – 6’5 (Virginia Tech)
  • Isaiah Briscoe (G) – 6’3 (Kentucky Commit)
  • Jalen Brunson (G) – 6’2 (Villanova Commit)
  • Brekkott Chapman (F) – 6’9 (Utah)
  • Vince Edward (F) – 6’8 (Purdue)
  • Jawun Evans (G) – 6’0 (Oklahoma State Commit)
  • Guard Terrance Ferguson (G) – 6’7 (Homeschooled)
  • Harry Giles (F) – 6’10 (Wesleyan Christian Academy)
  • Josh Jackson (G/F)  – 6’8 (Prolific Prep, CA)
  • Riley LaChance (G) – 6’2 (Vanderbilt)
  • Chinanu Onauku (F) – 6’10 (Louisville)
  • L.J. Peak (F) – 6’5 (Georgetown)
  • Caleb Swanigan (C) – 6’9 (Purdue Commit)
  • Jayson Tatum (G/F) – 6’9 (Chaminade College Prep)
  • Allonzo Trier (G) – 6’4 (Arizona Commit)
  • Thomas Welsh (C) – 7’0 (UCLA)

The team will have to be cut down to 12 players by the end of training wich runs through June 21st.
