Behold St. Bede’s pitcher Jarrett Olson of Peru, Illinois as he puts the play in motion mid-at-bat against Rockford Christian in the 2A semifinals. The runner fully believes that Olson has thrown the ball to the second baseman and that he can beat the pick-off with a dash to third, until he realizes that Olson is about to tag him out.

As BroBible so adptly points out, the play is made better by St. Bede’s second baseman, shortstop and center fielder helped make the fakeout seem totally real.

Kind of makes you wonder how many times they practiced that, doesn’t it?

Kudos to the fellows from St. Bede’s who made the defensive feat so fun to watch. It will probably be the only time they will ever pull it off–every team they face from here on out will be on the lookout for the legendary play.
