Cari Champion moving on from ESPN’s ‘First Take’

It looks like Cari Champion is finally getting rewarded for putting up with Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith on a regular basis, and living to tell about it.

Sources have reported that the ESPN host is leaving “First Take” and getting the bump up to “SportsCenter” anchor. Friday marked her last day in the middle of the Smith-Bayless hurricaine of insanity and Champion delivered a touching farewell at the end of the show.

“I realized that it was going to be a tough gig as I had the biggest, strongest personalities in the building,” Champion said in an interview with TheWrap. (Although we know she’s just being kind with her choice of adjectives there.)

Champion is expected to start doing morning segments for “SportsCenter” starting in mid-July, the Wrap reports, in particular a series of segments in conjunction with ABC’s “Good Moring American.”

We are already excited to see Champion gabbing with Robin Roberts while we sip our morning coffee.
