Connor Cook is front-runner to be first 2016 QB drafted

Every year, we seemingly enter the season with a clear-cut favorite as the top quarterback in college football. This year, Michigan State Spartans signal-caller Connor Cook seems to be that guy.

According to MMQB’s Andy Staples, Cook is currently “the front-runner to be the first quarterback taken in the 2016 draft.”

Staples went on to praise Cook for turning around the Spartans’ offense.

That has to be great news for Cook, who passed up an opportunity to be a first-round selection in the 2015 NFL Draft in order to return to Michigan State for another run at a national championship.

While it is still very early in the process, it appears that Cook will be a lock to be selected in the first 32 picks next spring.

If there is any competition for the honor of being the top quarterback selected, it will likely come from Ohio State Buckeyes signal-caller  Cardale Jones and Christian Hackenberg of Penn State.

Who do you think should be the top-rated quarterback entering the new season? Sound off in the comments section below with your thoughts.
