The Duke Blue Devils had a memorable run towards their fifth national championship during the 2014-15 season. On Friday, the defending champions announced their non-conference schedule. It seems like they have a fairly easy road as they have no “true road games” throughout the non-conference slate.
According to GoDuke.com, the Blue Devils will open the season with a pair of home games against opponents to be named during the first week of August in the 2K Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project. They will then play in the championship rounds of the Classic against VCU, Georgetown, and national title game opponent Wisconsin at Madison Square Garden.
The Blue Devils will then play neutral site games against two teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season. The first will be on November 17 against Kentucky, a match-up that everyone wanted to see last year, in the State Farm Champions Classic in the United Center in Chicago and then a Sweet Sixteen rematch against Utah again at MSG.
The Blue Devils’ biggest home non-conference game is against Indiana in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on December 2. The rest of the team’s home non-conference games are against Yale (Nov. 25), Utah State (Nov. 29), Buffalo (Dec. 5), Georgia Southern (Dec. 15), Elon (Dec. 28) and Long Beach State (Dec. 30).
The Blue Devils are scheduled to face off against fourteen opponents that made the NCAA Tournament last season during the regular season. The team’s full schedule in conjuncture with the ACC will be released in August.
Whatever the schedule looks like, the Blue Devils will be ready to hit the court and defend their national championship. This season is shaping up to be another memorable one for Coach K’s crew.
