Ouch. Vanderbilt’s Rhett Wiseman may just be the toughest baseball player in the nation.
On Friday night while the Commodores were taking on the TCU Horned Frogs in the College World Series, Wiseman took a fastball directly to the neck when he was attempting to lay down a bunt.

If Wiseman would have left the game after being hit, everyone would have understood. However, he decided to tough it out and remained in the game. That decision paid off in a big way for the Commodores when Wiseman smacked a homer later in the game.

Vanderbilt defeated TCU, 7-1, and eliminated them from the tournament.
As for Wiseman’s neck, well, it was still looking rough after the game. Props to to him for toughing it out and taking one for the team.
Wow…you can see the laces from the baseball on @Likewise9's neck. Gutsy performance tonight! #VandyBoys #CmonRhett pic.twitter.com/AtSBCFDENK
