Urban Meyer is constantly thinking about Michigan rivalry

The Ohio State Buckeyes – Michigan Wolverines rivalry has seemingly been taken up a few notches since Jim Harbaugh took over as Michigan coach.

Headlines have been pouring out from both sides, players are taking shots at one another and the fan bases are eagerly looking forward to the first of hopefully many Meyer-Harbaugh clashes.

But does Meyer think about the rivalry as much as we’d all like to believe he does?

It actually appears so.

In a recent interview, Meyer spoke about the heated rivalry and made it clear that it is something he, his coaching staff and players are constantly thinking about.

“I think our staff is certainly aware of Coach Harbaugh’s history,” Meyer said, via The Columbus Dispatch. “Any time the adversary has quality people in there, you’re aware of everything they’re doing and their work.

“I don’t know if (the rivalry) is ratcheted up. We’re constantly thinking about the rivalry, working on the rivalry. We’re making sure we’re covering our bases, because every kid they’re on, we’re on.”

Phew. Now we don’t have to feel so bad about paying so much attention to all of the news coming out leading up to the season.

Let’s hope the game delivers a big payoff worthy of the hype.
