Five-star running back Soso Jamabo has reported to UCLA for summer classes and will enroll following being arrested back in April. Joey Kaufman of the Orange County Register reported the story.
A native of Plano, Texas, Jamabo was arrested in April on charges of fleeing police in a vehicle as well as drinking alcohol. Jamabo was also charged with various traffic violations, which were all subsequently dropped.
However, though his legal issues do seem to be over and he is enrolled at the university, this is truly put up or shut up time for Jamabo.
Though talented, getting arrested just a couple of months before summer classes start isn’t exactly an ideal first impression and is a reason for him to work extra hard on the practice field. He’ll likely be playing behind last year’s leading rusher in Paul Perkins, but the fact remains that Jamabo is a highly talented runner and if he can shake off the arrest quickly, he could definitely help the Bruins make some noise this season.
UCLA is 29-11 (18-9 Pac-12) in three seasons under head coach Jim Mora and opens the 2015 campaign on September 5 at the Rose Bowl, playing the ACC’s Virginia Cavaliers.
