Former Virginia Tech defensive end Dewayne Alford let it be known he would no longer a Hokie earlier this year. On Tuesday, South Alabama announced , via College Football Talk, that Alford was enrolled and would be the newest addition to their football program.
Alford made his mark mostly on special teams during his time in Blacksburg. He appeared in 26 games over the past two seasons and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
In 2011, he was ranked as a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com.
The South Alabama Jaguars posted a 6-7 record in 2014 and are looking to improve upon that in 2015. They will open up the season against Gardner-Webb on Sept. 5.
