Check out Branden Dawson’s emotional NBA Draft night

NBA Draft night was more than just a dream come true for former Michigan State Spartan Branden Dawson. It was an emotional roller coaster.

After hearing every name but his called for a good long while, Dawson was finally drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans with the 56th overall pick. He was subsequently traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, where he will likely serve as defensive depth off the bench.

Sure enough, Michigan State managed to put together a video of Dawson’s draft night experience.

A 6-foot-6, 225 pound wing from Gary, Indiana, Dawson averaged 11.9 points and a team-best 9.1 rebounds per game in his senior season in East Lansing and played an integral role in getting the team to the Final Four. He has a reputation for being a player that is all heart and passion and can rally the troops, so that would explain why he just broke down upon learning that he’d be realizing his dream of playing in the NBA.

Congratulations to Dawson, and the best of luck!
