Video: Take a tour of Auburn’s new scoreboard

If you turn on the news, you will hear stories of an economic crisis or downturn. However, that is not the case at the University of Auburn.

Jordan-Hare stadium will soon house the largest video scoreboard in college football. Measuring an enormous 190 feet wide. Construction is supposed to be completed in August. Just in time for Auburn’s first home game on September 12th.

The construction is estimated to cost around 13.9 million dollars. Alabama.com has released a video tour and you can see it in its entirety below.

Weighing in at a whopping 800 tons and 40,000 bolts, the new structure is not only the biggest in college football, but it is also surpasses the scoreboard of the Dallas Cowboys. The place that started it all.

It’s no secret that the SEC is the wealthiest of conferences and they are not shy in showing it. Last year, Texas A&M made renovations to Kyle Field and put together a 163 foot wide board, only to be out done a year later.

It’s hard to figure out which team will upgrade their facilities next, but my guess would have to be the team down the road at Tuscaloosa. We all can imagine Nick Saban sitting in his office, meeting with Alabama boosters, and scheming up a plan for a 200 foot wide scoreboard.

You have to love college football. A place where the rich get richer and the powerful remain powerful.
