The Utah State Aggies football team has dismissed top wideout and kick returner JoJo Natson from the program for what is being called a violation of team rules. John Taylor of NBC Sports’ College Football Talk reported the story.
Head coach Matt Wells offered little more than a generic statement.
“We are extremely disappointed anytime we have to make a decision regarding the future of one of our student-athletes,” head coach Matt Wells said in a statement. “We will continue to support JoJo as he moves forward in his career.”
This is certainly a blow to the Aggies, as Natson pulled in 51 receptions for 504 yards (second on the team) and two touchdowns and also ran for 498 yards and three scores last season. In his years with Utah State, he accumulated 127 receptions for 1,031 yards and five touchdowns, 611 rushing yards and six scores, and 643 return yards with four touchdowns. Not at all bad for someone just 5-foot-7 and 151 pounds.
Natson also earned first-team All Mountain West honors last season, so there’s no doubt that he’ll be missed on offense this season. Campus Sports will update any news on Natson’s suspension as more information comes in.
Utah State went 10-4 (6-2 MWC) in 2014 and defeated UTEP in the New Mexico Bowl. The Aggies open 2015 at home on September 3, when the Big Sky’s Southern Utah Thunderbirds pay a visit to Romney Stadium.
