Randy Edsall inks extension with Maryland

University of Maryland football coach Randy Edsall has signed a three-year contract extension with the school. Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports reported the agreement.

Since taking over the Terps back in 2011, Edsall has gone 20-30 (10-22 ACC & Big Ten) and owns a bowl record of 0-2.

Last season, the team went 7-6 (4-4 Big Ten) in its first Big Ten season and was defeated by Stanford in the Foster Farms Bowl. Prior to that, he was the coach at UConn for 12 seasons.

Since taking over for Ralph Friedgen in 2011, Edsall has slowly but surely improved Maryland’s football team, and it appears that the athletic department wants to see him continue to do so.

Maryland opens the 2015 season at Byrd Stadium on September 5 against the Atlantic 10’s Richmond Spiders.
