Jacksonville to host 2016 Notre Dame/Navy game

Everbank Stadium, home of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, has hosted some pretty big events in the past. For the last few decades, it has hosted The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, better known as the Georgia/Florida game, as well hosting the Country Superfest in the last few years.

The stadium will now be adding on one of college football’s oldest rivalries to its agenda in 2016.

The Jaguars’ stadium will be hosting the annual Notre Dame/Navy game for 2015. The decision was announced by Dan Hicken, former sports director for WLTV in Jacksonville, via Twitter.

The Fighting Irish and Midshipmen have met eighty-eight times since 1927 and the meeting for 2016 will be ninetieth meeting between the two teams. Notre Dame currently leads the rivalry series 75-12-1, winning the last four games in the series.

The Midshipmen have had some success over the last few seasons, however, the team won it’s first game in the series in over forty years in 2007 and have won three of the last eight games since then.
