4-star G Alterique Gilbert to announce decision Saturday

Point guards have proven time and time again to be the most important position on the court come March. That means colleges across the nation are keeping a close eye on Alterique Gilbert, one of the strongest guards in the class of 2016.

Gilbert, who is a five-star recruit from Georgia, will make his much anticipated college decision on Saturday and will chose between UConn (the only school he visited), Syracuse, Texas, Louisville and Illinois.

The Miller Grove High School talent has great size, strength and quickness with strong hands and effective handles. Gilbert loves to play in an up-tempo offense, as he is exceptional in transition with his great passing abilities.

UConn may be the perfect situation for him as Kevin Ollie’s squad will lose Sterling Gibbs and Omar Calhoun after this upcoming season.

Ollie relies on his guard play to take him to the promise land and they certainly will have talent around the young point guard (Jalen Adams, Daniel Hamilton).
