QB Vernon Adams cleared to enroll at Oregon

Former Eastern Washington Eagles quarterback and graduate transfer Vernon Adams has cleared his last academic hurdle at EWU and is now admitted to Oregon’s graduate school, clearing him to suit up for the Ducks this season.

Andrew Greif of The Oregonian reported the development.

Adams still had one class to complete at EWU back in June, as was reported by Greif then, and it now appears that he has done so and can join the Ducks worry-free. All that is left for him to do is enroll in graduate classes by early August.

Adams’ addition to the Ducks’ roster couldn’t come at a better time. The team is about to enter its first season of the post-Marcus Mariota Era, as last year’s Heisman winner is now part of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, so having an experienced man like Adams under center will help. In three years with Eastern Washington, Adams threw for 10,438 yards and 110 touchdowns while rushing for 1,232 yards and 11 scores.

With his ability to both throw well as well as use his legs to create offense, Adams is sure to help Oregon stay competitive and on a path to avenging its loss in last year’s national championship game.

Oddly enough, the Ducks open the 2015 season at home against Eastern Washington on September 5.
