Ole Miss basketball coach spoofs DirecTV to sell tickets

Over the last year or so, DirecTV has released some pretty funny commercials featuring Parks and Recreation star Rob Lowe. The “DirecTV Rob Lowe” obviously watches DirecTV and he is a better person for it.

There is another version of Lowe that watches cable and he is either a slob or a douchey gym rat.

Basically this means that if you watch cable television, nobody will like you.

While DirecTV may not be showing those commercials anymore (and for some reason replaced them with a stupid talking horse), Ole Miss basketball coach Andy Kennedy made a video spoofing those commercials and it is actually pretty hilarious. College Basketball Talk shared the video that was meant to try and sell season tickets to fans for when the Rebels move into their new basketball arena.

While I have always been a Dish Network guy, I enjoyed the Rob Lowe commercials and wish they would make a return in the near future. I am also not a fan of Ole Miss basketball, nor do I live close enough to make a season ticket worth my while. Andy and “Randy” Kennedy both made me at least consider buying a season ticket. Well done guys.

The Rebels advanced to the Round of 64 last season after defeating BYU in the First Four round. This was their second NCAA appearance in three years and the seventh year they have advanced to a postseason tournament (NCAA or NIT) in Kennedy’s nine years with the team.
