Online gambling company Bovada just released their updated ranking for odds-on player to win the Heisman award for college football’s upcoming season.
In the most recent update, Texas Christian University quarterback Trevone Boykin was able to overtake Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott for the top spot, being a 6-1 favorite to win the award.
Boykin is a very explosive athlete and has seen his production increase dramatically last year. Boykin passed for 3901 yards (enough for 8th in the FBS) and 33 touchdowns (7th in FBS). His game is similar to Oregon Heisman winner Marcus Mariota’s; he has a strong arm and keen pocket presence while also being a very capable runner with the ability to evade sacks and pass-rushes well.
Boykin was able to add eight touchdowns on the ground last year as well, a fearless rusher who can fool defenses with his hard option fakes.
Take a look at Boykin juking an Ole Miss defender out of his gym shoes with this fake pitch.
The fun doesn’t stop there. Watch Boykin avoid defenders and front flip into the
endzone in a game against Kansas State last year.
Let’s see if Trevone Boykin can flip into the record books next year. Do you think Boykin has what it takes to be the best in college football?
