Colorado State loses signee C.J. Keyser to prep school

Rather than join the rest of his fellow recruits for the upcoming season, three-star shooting guard C.J. Keyser will instead head to prep school instead of Colorado State University. Sean Star of the Loveland Reporter-Herald reported Keyser’s decision.

A former star at Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kansas, Keyser will de-commit from the program despite having signed a letter of intent to play for the Rams. Just which prep school he plays at has yet to be named. Keyser’s decision was also reported on Twitter.

It’s a tough blow for the team and head coach Larry Eustachy, who was hoping to build off of last year’s 27-win season. The Rams were 27-7 (13-5 Mountain West) and made it to the NIT, losing in the first round. Just two seasons ago, the team made the 2013 NCAA Tournament and lost in the Round of 32.

Campus Sports will update Keyser’s story as more information becomes public.
