Comedy Central renews “South Park” through 2019

One of the most offensive, vulgar, and simply amazing shows on television will be sticking around for at least three more years. Comedy Central announced Wednesday that they had renewed “South Park” for three more seasons, taking the show through 2019.

According to Variety, the beloved cartoon group of friends will be entering its twenty-third season in 2019. “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone were hired for thirty more episodes, which will take the show past the 300 episode mark by the time this new deal is over.

“South Park” has grown into one of the more successful adult cartoons. The show has produced twenty seasons of hilarity that has culminated in the 1999 musical motion picture “South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut”. Below is one of my favorite scenes from the movie.

In addition to more than 200 television episode, Parker and Stone have created a few video games including the critically-acclaimed “South Park: The Stick of Truth” that released to consoles and PC in 2014. The pair have also found success in the world of theatre after they released the Broadway play “The Book of Mormon”.

“We love working for Doug and with everyone at Comedy Central. They’ve given us an insane level of artistic and creative freedom for almost 20 years. They walk the walk,” Parker and Stone said in a statement.

Here’s to twenty more seasons of comedy gold! Keep being awesome and let’s hope we don’t have to hear “Screw you guys, I’m going home” for good anytime soon.
