Tatum may pick a school within next two weeks

Jayson Tatum, widely regarded as one of the top three prospects in the nation for the class of 2016, may be deciding where he’ll play his college basketball in the very near future.

Tatum, a 6’8″ small forward from St. Louis, MO, was one of the heroes of the US mens U19 team that just recently defeated Croatia to win the gold medal at the FIBA World Championships. Now he’s reportedly ready to name his college choice within the next two weeks, during the July open period, but it may not be quite that simple.

Tatum and his U19 teammate, Harry Giles, are reportedly interested in playing their college ball together, which means somebody may end up landing one whale of a package deal.

While Tatum is said to be seriously considering Duke and the hometown Saint Louis Billikens, he hasn’t ruled out North Carolina or Kentucky. Giles’ list, maybe not-so-coincidentally, also includes Duke, Kentucky and the Tar Heels. Giles is also regarded as one of the top three prospects for the 2016 class. No word yet on when he’ll be making his decision.

That sound you hear is Saint Louis frantically searching for Giles’ phone number.
