I have always preferred to watch college basketball dunk contests as opposed to the contest that takes place at NBA All-Star Weekend every year. Over the last few years, the NBA dunk contest has focused on becoming too flashy.
In college contests, they just go out and dunk.
That is exactly what Iowa State redshirt junior Deonte Burton did at the 2015 YMCA Capital City League dunk contest on Friday night.
College Basketball Talk shared the video of Burton facing off against Pepperdine’s Nate Gehring and Drake’s Ore Arogundade in the contest. Burton is already known as one of the best dunkers in the country, so it was pretty apparent that he was worlds past his opponents.
Well done, Burton.
It’s not like Burton can’t do these kinds of feats in-game as he proved that many times last season. The two-time defending Big 12 tournament champions are more than excited about their future with him.
Let’s just hope that his dunk skills are just as good when he gets to the NBA.
