Notre Dame Fighting Irish senior linebacker Joe Schmidt is very excited about the team’s season opener against the Texas Longhorns on September 5, going so far as to say it will be the best day of his life. Given how long he has been with the team, one is surely wondering just why the Texas game is so important to him.
Well, the long and short of it is this. Schmidt loves playing football so much that he views EVERY game as the best day of his life. Speaking to Mike Vorel of NDInsider.com and the South Bend Tribune, Schmidt clarified what he meant exactly.
It’s great that Schmidt has such a positive attitude, as that is a strong intangible that will only help him moving forward, be it playing football or doing something else. He has 86 tackles, two interceptions and two forced fumbles in his time with Notre Dame, and is poised to have another strong season as he closes out his college career.
Hopefully, a win against Texas can get that off to a strong start.
