Analyst: Clemson’s Deshaun Watson will be Heisman finalist

Just how good is Clemson Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson? Many believe the sophomore signal-caller is among the best players in the nation at his position, but there is one college football analyst who believes Watson could be the best.

Bleacher Report’s Michael Felder attended the Elite 11 Finals in Oregon and observed Watson.

After getting a close look at the quarterback, Felder seems to believe there is nothing to worry about when it comes to Watson’s health and that the Clemson star could end up being a finalist for the most prestigious award in college football.

“Seeing him go through all the drills, in shape to go through all the high-pressure drills where they’re running and they’re moving – that’s a big plus for Tiger fans,” said Felder. “This is a kid that’s going to be in New York City with an opportunity to win a Heisman trophy. I’m saying it right now in July.

“With Deshaun Watson at the quarterback spot, not only does Clemson have a guy that’s going to be in contention for a Heisman Trophy, but I think they’re the favorite to win the ACC.”

That is some impressive praise.

Of course, as many have said, it will all come down to whether Watson is able to remain healthy.

We will get our first look at Watson and the Tigers this season on Sept. 5 against Wofford.
