USA wins gold at World University Games in double OT

Can you say clutch? Kansas Jayhawks star Frank Mason III drank some of MJ’s ”secret stuff” and tied the score twice at the end of regulation, and then again during the first overtime to take the game into double-OT.

Thanks to Mason’s clutch moments, the Kansas-led Team USA went on to beat out Germany, 84-77,  to win the World University Games in Gwanngju, South Korea.

This marks the first time since way back in 2005 that a US men’s team has won a gold at the WUG.

Mason, the sophomore guard finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, paving the way for his team alongside junior guard Wayne Selden. Selden finished the game with a strong 22 points. Jayhawks head coach Bill Self should definitely be impressed with his team’s performance.

Now will the Jayhawks carry this performance into the upcoming season? Will the motion offense beat the various zones? Only time will tell.
