At this year’s ESPY Awards, the Jimmy V Perseverance Award will be awarded to Leah Still, the five-year old daughter of Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Devon Still. Unfortunately, as was reported by Nina Mandell of USA Today, Leah will not be able to attend. Though her cancer is in remission, her immune system is still weak and doctors have not cleared her to travel.
Devon Still also posted the following on his Instagram.

The Stills became a household name last season when, after cutting him from the main roster, the Bengals re-signed Still to the practice squad so he could continue earning money to pay for his daughter’s cancer treatments. Still will accept the Jimmy V Perseverance Award in his daughter’s place at the ESPYs, set to air on ESPN tomorrow night.
The award, named for former N.C. State head men’s basketball coach Jim Valvano, is given annually to an individual who has overcome some sort of adversity in their lives. Previous winners include Sacramento Kings head coach George Karl, former Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand and the late, great Stuart Scott.
