It is safe to say that Georgia wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell has certainly won the SEC Media Days this year. It is not every day that you see an athlete show off their authoring skills, but that is what Mitchell has done.
According to Fox Sports, Mitchell has been adamant on getting children to read. He is so passionate about that, that he has a Twitter account (@ReadWithMalcom) and has written a children’s book called “The Magician’s Hat.”
Mitchell’s message to children in his book is simple: “I can be whatever I want to be if I dream it.”
If that isn’t inspiring, then I don’t know what is.
Mitchell said that the book cost him about $500 to produce and is available for $18.95. It is aimed for children kindergarten through fourth grade.
At last year’s SEC Media Days, former UGA wide receiver Chris Conley talked about the Star Wars fan-fiction movie he had starred in. Now, Mitchell has a good reason why he and his former teammate are stretching themselves beyond football.
“Coach Richt doesn’t confine us to just be athletes.”
The Bulldogs open the season at home against Louisiana-Monroe on September 5.
