Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Cardale Jones has high ambitions for himself, and rightfully so. After beginning last season as the third stringer before Braxton Miller’s injury bumped him up to the backup’s spot, Jones took over under center after J.T. Barrett broke his ankle in November and not only led the Buckeyes to a 59-0 victory over Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game, but also to victory over Alabama in the College Football Playoff before ultimately defeating Oregon in the national championship game.
Sure enough, Jones took to Twitter and explained just what his goals in life are.
When my career is all said and done, I wanna be remembered and respected like Jeter & MJ #CareerGoals

Though those are respectable goals for Jones to set for himself, he has an uphill battle ahead of him. He is competing with both Barrett and Miller for Ohio State’s starting quarterback’s job and as a junior, he’s going to have to work extra hard to establish himself as the man for the job even if he was the man under center for last year’s championship game. Depending on who Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer picks for the position, Jones may have some tough decisions to make regarding his future.
Just the same, it’s great to see Jones maintaining a positive outlook on what he wants in life, regardless of what happens in the next few weeks. With that kind of attitude, success for him is a near certainty.
Ohio State opens 2015 on the road against Virginia Tech on September 7.
