On June 1, UAB president Ray Watts brought back football to the university just months after it was announced that the school would not play football in the future. Now, the team has gotten even more good news after they landed their first player rather than seeing one leave.
According to AL.com, Memphis offensive lineman Tyler Jones will be transferring to UAB for the 2015 season. Jones signed with Memphis over UAB and Troy in 2014. After redshirting his freshman year, he will be moving down to Birmingham to continue his college career.

Jones was a three-star lineman out of Albertville, Alabama and was the fifty-seventh ranked player in the state. This is a huge pickup for the Blazers as it is the first player they have snagged since football was brought back.
The Blazers will not play football this season, so Jones will not miss a season of eligibility for his transfer.
