The Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball team got a pleasant surprise yesterday when Indianapolis Colts star quarterback and three-time Pro Bowler Andrew Luck paid them a visit. A picture of the visit was documented on the team’s Instagram page.
Though the Hoosiers did make the Sweet Sixteen two years ago, the team has stumbled since. Over the past two seasons, Indiana has gone 37-29 (16-20 Big Ten) and though the Hoosiers made last year’s NCAA Tournament as a No. 10 seed, they lost to No. 7 Wichita State in the Round of 64.
That being said, perhaps Luck’s visit can turn out to be a motivating factor in the 2015-16 season. Since being drafted first overall by the Colts in 2012, Luck has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of his three NFL seasons and has thrown for 12,957 yards and 86 touchdowns, his 905 rushing yards and 12 scores on the ground being an added bonus. He led the league with 40 touchdown passes last season and has advanced further in the playoffs in each of his seasons. At just 25 years of age, his NFL career is truly just beginning.
With key players in Yogi Ferrell, James Blackmon Jr. and Troy Williams returning, here’s hoping that a visit from Luck will provide just that to Indiana as it looks to bounce back from two uninspiring seasons.
