To say the LSU Tigers had a disappointing season in 2014 would be an understatement. After barely slipping past Wisconsin in the opening game and starting 3-0, the Tigers got manhandled by both Mississippi State and Auburn in two of the next three games. They turned things around with three straight SEC wins over Florida, Kentucky, and Ole Miss, but they fell to their biggest rivals with an overtime loss to Alabama and their first shutout loss since the 2011 season with a 17-0 loss to Arkansas.
To top things off, LSU lost a heartbreaker to Notre Dame in the Music City Bowl. This was the first time the Tigers didn’t win ten games since the 2009 season. It was not a good year for the Tigers.
LSU head coach Les Miles did an interview on Sportscenter on Monday and talked about what the team had to do to improve this season.
Miles was asked about the pressure his team has on them after going 8-5 last season. He answered the question pretty swiftly.
“I think our football team certainly internalizes that as something we are capable of being much better than. I think our summer has been reflective of that.”
Miles has taken the Tigers to the top in the past and they are one of the most winningest programs in college football since he arrived in 2005. Can he take them back to the peak of the football mountain? We will just have to wait until September.
The Tigers open the season on September 5 when they host McNeese State.
