The first-round match-ups for the 2015 Wooden Legacy have been released and the end result could be an Arizona-Michigan State final.
The first round starts on Nov. 26, and if Michigan State is to reach the title game on Nov. 29, they’ll have to start by going through Boston College. Arizona, in turn, will have to get by Santa Clara. The other first round games feature Boise State vs. UC Irvine and Providence vs. Evansville.
The Arizona/Santa Clara winner will get the winner of Evansville/Providence, while the winner of the Boston College/Michigan State tilt will get the Boise State/UC Irvine winner. The semifinals are set for Nov. 27.
Evansville didn’t make the 2015 NCAA Tournament, but the Purple Aces finished 24-12 overall and claimed the CollegeInsider.com Tournament championship. They are expected to make some noise in the Missouri Valley Conference this season behind all-league guard D.J. Balentine. UC Irvine, Boise State and Providence all went dancing last March, and expect to do so again in 2016, while the Broncos of Santa Clara are looking to improve upon their 14-18 mark from a season ago.
