It’s no secret that the Baylor Bears and Texas Christian Horned Frogs are the two favorites to take home the Big 12 crown this season, but that doesn’t mean Texas Longhorns fans have to like it. One in particular, current Longhorns wideout John Burt, is feeling particularly driven to prove the doubters wrong.
After ESPN College Football posted the Big 12 odds on Twitter, Burt followed up with a tweet of his own.
According to ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI), Baylor has 37.4% & TCU 36.9% chance to win the Big 12. pic.twitter.com/cjKPEwvtXl

It’s great to see Burt, an incoming freshman from Tallahassee, have so much confidence in his team, particularly after Texas showed general improvement under Charlie Strong last season in going 6-7 (5-4 Big 12) and looking much stronger on defense.
However, TCU has key players returning, especially quarterback Trevone Boykin, and Baylor’s spread offense has a tendency to make things frustrating for everyone. As driven as Burt is, he and his teammates should focus on one game at a time rather than the bigger picture, at least to start.
Texas opens the season on the road against Notre Dame on September 5.
