Three Arkansas players arrested, charged with forgery

Three members of the Arkansas University basketball team have been arrested and charged with forgery. Sophomore guard Anton Beard, senior forward Jacorey Williams, and Dustin Thomas were booked at around 2:00 P.M. Wednesday and more details are expected to surface as the day progresses.

Still, it remains to be seen what exactly warranted the arrest, but punished will likely be handed down by the Razorback athletic department.

“We have become aware of a pending legal issue involving three men’s basketball student-athletes,” the school said in a statement. “The student-athletes have been suspended indefinitely from the men’s basketball program. Our continued expectation is that our student-athletes conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times.”

Beard and Williams both played valuable minutes for Arkansas during the 2014-15 campaign and were expected to compete for a starting role next year.  Still, the arrest will likely mean some form of suspension- or worse- which could lead to a dip in production.

The Razorbacks are coming off of 27-9 year in which they qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since.

Despite the recent success, the program lost star Bobby Portis to the NBA Draft and was looking to replace his numbers with the likes of Beard and Williams.

Before we rush to judgement, fans must take the wait and see approach as more information becomes available.
