The Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team was looking to having four-star Huntington Prep forward Ted Kapita play for them this season, especially with Bobby Portis now in the NBA, but it appears that won’t be the case.
According to a tweet by Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, about 48 miles away from Cleveland, Kapita will play there next season instead of suiting up in Fayetteville.
Kapita’s reasons for attending Spire would be academic, so it’s hard to hold it against him that he would take a post grad year to get his GPA right. But it’s still rough news for Arkansas, who just had three players arrested for forgery.
But if you ask Richard Davenport of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, no final decision has yet been made regarding Kapita’s academic status and he could still suit up for the Razorbacks this season.
Campus Sports will update this story as more information becomes available.
