Ohio State football players call out ignorant fans on Twitter

Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Cardale Jones posted a series of tweets earlier today about the #BlackLivesMatter movement, and some fans broke out their ugly ignorance themselves in response, telling Jones and some of his teammates to just focus on the upcoming season and Ohio State’s title defense.

Though I’m one who has always held the belief of “sports and politics, oil and water,” fans have no right calling out Jones and other Buckeyes players for expressing an opinion over what is definitely an important issue. Too much has happened in the country over the past couple of years to just let arguments for or against #BlackLivesMatter fall by the wayside and if you ask this writer, Jones feeling so passionate about it and being able to express his opinions eloquently (albeit on Twitter) is a sign that he is a strong on-field leader in the making.

In fact, he summed up his entire opinion on #BlackLivesMatter, fans calling him out for discussing it and other things in just one tweet.

Ohio State opens the season on the road against Virginia Tech on September 7.
