4-star LB Jeremiah Moon commits to Florida

Class of 2016 linebacker Jeremiah Moon, out of Alabama’s Hoover High School, near Birmingham, has committed to the University of Florida. ESPN’s Derek Tyson reported Moon’s decision on Twitter.

Of great size for his position at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Moon had also received offers from plenty of top programs including Alabama, South Carolina, Auburn, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Missouri.

He will instead head to Gainesville to suit up for the Gators next season, joining a Jim McElwain recruiting class that is looking better and better with each passing day. After spending the previous three seasons turning the Colorado State Rams around for the better, McElwain is set to undertake the same task at Florida.

With Moon now set to join next year’s recruiting class, chances are the Gators could be back in the SEC title hunt sooner rather than later.

Florida opens the season at home against the Sun Belt’s New Mexico State Aggies on September 5.
