Class of 2016 four-star defensive back Marlon Character, out of Atlanta’s Grady High School, has committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Woody Wommack of Rivals.com reported Character’s decision on Twitter.

Projected as a safety, Character had also received offers from Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Yale, Ohio State and LSU, among many others. He will instead join a Gamecocks team that ranked 52nd in the nation in passing defense last season, plus 91st in total defense. Character isn’t the one who will be South Carolina’s sole savior on defense, but he’ll almost certainly become an immediate help in the secondary.
