ECU dismisses projected starting guard Larry Williams

East Carolina University has dismissed potential starting guard Larry Williams from the program due to an unspecified violation of team rules, according to John Taylor of NBC Sports’ College Football Talk.

Pirates head coach Ruffin McNeill offered a brief statement on Williams’ dismissal.

“It is always disappointing when someone is dismissed from the program, but there comes a time when an individual’s actions force the loss of a privilege, which in this case is being a part of our team,” McNeill said in a statement. “We all have the responsibility of being accountable.”

A former three-star recruit out of E.A. Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina, Williams appeared in 13 games last season and played primarily on special teams.

This story is still very much in the early stages and Williams has not commented, but Campus Sports will update this story as more details become available.

ECU ranked sixth in the nation in total offense last year and opens the 2015 season at home against the CAA’s Towson Tigers on September 5.
