AP Preseason Top 25 poll release date announced

The College Football Preseason Coaches poll was released Thursday morning and it was about as accurate as it could get. That poll is not always perceived as the official Top 25 by many fans, so they will have to wait until late August to satisfy their football cravings.

According to College Spun, the AP Preseason Top 25 will be released on August 23. That comes from Ralph D Russo of the Associated Press who released the news via Twitter.

The Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 don’t usually differ much from each other other than a few teams swapping places and one or two teams being swapped out near the bottom of the poll. I wouldn’t expect the preseason poll to be much different.

I would probably expect Notre Dame to be in the Top Ten for the AP Poll for two reasons. The AP loves to create controversy and they also know exactly where the money is.

The AP also selected Notre Dame to be one of the four teams in this season’s College Football Playoff earlier this year, so I would expect they want their top four to start the season in the Top Ten.

Also, don’t be surprised to see Alabama and TCU swap places from the Coaches Poll. That just seems to happen in the top three every preseason.
