Urban Meyer won’t announce starting QB until season opener

If you are hoping to learn who will start for the Ohio State Buckeyes prior to their season-opener against Virginia Tech at Blacksburg, well, you are completely out of luck.

Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer has been keeping his cards close to his chest and it doesn’t appear that a decision is coming soon.

In fact, while holding court at Big Ten Media Days, Meyer said that no one is going to know his starting quarterback until the offense runs out onto the field for the first time.

The offseason just got longer.

With more than 30 days of speculation left until we learn whether Cardale Jones or J.T. Barrett will be the man leading Ohio State on their national title defense, there are going to be plenty of smokescreens.

So, just sit back and get your popcorn ready for that Sept. 5 opener.
