Atlanta Falcons rookies quickly learn duties at training camp

|

Sometimes hazing can go a little too far. Other times, first-year players are forced to “earn their stripes” with some harmless fun from the veterans on the team.

On Tuesday, Atlanta Falcons rookie wide receiver Justin Hardy showed just what those rookie duties can entail.

For the former ECU standout, his mini initiation included carrying the shoulder pads for All-Pro pass catcher Julio Jones. Hardy posted a light-hearted caption with the photo that read, “Rookie Duties, I’m Thankful.”

While Hardy is currently carrying pads at training camp, he could be serving a much bigger role during the regular season.

Hardy will be competing with Devin Hester and Leonard Hankerson for the No. 3 wide receiver spot. With his crisp route running abilities and strong hands, there is a very good chance he will earn his playing time during year one.

The Falcons open the regular season on Sept. 14 against the Philadelphia Eagles at the Georgia Dome.
