Penn State reveals new look to its shield logo

It seems like the Penn State Nittany Lions are trying to distance itself from the past as much as possible. The school took another step towards that when they revealed a new shield logo on Tuesday.

The shield logo represents a “refreshed brand identity” for the school and its athletic programs.

The site originally reported the modernization of the school’s logo and they shared a side-by-side look at the new logo against the old logo.

According to the site:

Lawrence Lokman, the vice president for strategic communications, told the Board of Trustees outreach, development, and community relations committee in May that the shield logo would be brought into the 21st century. “It doesn’t translate well digitally,” he said.
