15-year-old Matthews brother gets offer from Texas A&M

Luke Matthews is only 15, but is already turning enough heads that he is considered a five-star offensive tackle recruit in the Class of 2018.

As a result, with his brothers Jake and Kevin having already attended there and brother Mike currently playing center there, Texas A&M has offered young Luke a scholarship.

The offer was reported by Gig ‘Em 247, the Aggies fansite on 247 Sports.

Brian Perroni of 247 Sports offered more.

“Luke’s older brothers have described him as possibly being the best of the bunch when all is said and done, something that would be very impressive as Jake was a first-round draft pick and Kevin spent some time in the NFL as well,” Perroni wrote. “Mike is A&M’s starting center and should get a shot in the league after this year as well.”

That’s certainly high praise for a 15-year-old, especially since a lot can happen between now and 2018’s National Signing Day. But the fact remains that Luke Matthews comes from a big football family and has the skills in his genes, being the son of a Hall-of-Famer, and it also helps that his cousin is hard-hitting Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews.

But at the same time, it’s more likely than not that when push comes to shove, Luke Matthews will likely suit up for the Aggies in a few years, and Campus Sports will be tracking his recruiting every step of the way.
