UPDATE: Shortly after our original story posted on Thursday morning, The Buffalo News reported that Patrick Kane is the subject of a rape investigation. Law enforcement sources told the news that a Hamburg woman is accusing Kane of sexual assault in an incident that took place over the last weekend.
Hockey media blew up in the middle of the week when it was reported that Chicago Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane is the subject of a police investigation. ESPN reported Thursday via The Buffalo News that the four-time All-Star is being investigated by Hamburg police.
Per the Buffalo News’ Wednesday article:
“Two sources said Hamburg police officials have forbidden their officers and detectives from publicly discussing the investigation.”
There is no word as to who the “two sources” are, or what the nature of the investigation is. TMZ supposedly has a source who claims that this is a rape investigation, however per the ESPN report there have yet to be any charges filed–and it is unclear if the police have interviewed Kane himself yet.

This isn’t the first time the star forward has brushed with the law. He and his cousin were arrested in 2009 after allegedly assaulting a cab driver.
