Buffalo Bulls men’s basketball star and reigning MAC Player of the Year Justin Moss is one of three Bulls players accused of stealing $650 from a college dorm room. Per Mark Gaughan of the Buffalo News, the room in question is shared by two football players.
The story is a little complicated, as it is not your typical case of college theft. Moss and teammates Raheem Johnson and Mory Diane are accused of stealing the money back in June, but then returning it to the football players with all parties agreeing that charges won’t be filed. That certainly is the case, but Moss, Johhnson and Diane now must appear before the “Student-Wide Judiciary” and could face expulsion from school, or even be declared ineligible for the first semester.
If either were to happen, losing Moss could be a huge blow for Buffalo. He averaged 17.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game last year while shooting 52 percent from the field, leading the Bulls to their first ever NCAA Tournament under head coach Bobby Hurley. The team lost to West Virginia in the Round of 64 and Hurley ended up accepting the head coaching job at Arizona State, but the main core of the team is still intact and expected to compete for the MAC title once again in 2015-16.
This story is still very much in the early stages, but Campus Sports will update the collective statuses of Moss and his teammates as the case develops.
