Photo: SMU assistant proposes using a football

Let’s be honest: proposing at a sporting even can be pretty corny. Getting your significant other on the jumbotron or simply leaving her a message for tens of thousands of fans to see can be cute, but there are more creative ways to involve sports in your relationship.

Just look at SMU Mustangs wide receivers coach Justin Stepp, for example.

Coach Stepp used a custom football to deliver a special message to his loved one and he even included a date for the big moment.

“Would you tackle life with me,” the football read.

Aww, how adorable.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell — who is not so adorable — shared a photo of the football used for that special moment below.

Campus Sports would like to wish the happy couple the best  moving forward!
