The Oklahoma Sooners have just received some good news when it comes to their 2016 recruiting class. They have just received some depth at linebacker for next fall in the form of a three-star linebacker from New Orleans.
Pernell Jefferson announced his commitment to the Sooners via Twitter on Monday afternoon, according to College Spun. Jefferson has been scouted by some pretty large programs outside of Oklahoma including Mississippi State, Arizona State, and Miami.
Jefferson recorded 115 tackles and thirteen sacks as a junior at Warren Easton High School in New Orleans. He is currently ranked as the 63rd linebacker in the nation 51st overall player in the state Louisiana for 2016.
While Jefferson might not be able to make an immediate impact for the Sooners, for the first season, he should be able to provide needed depth in the defensive backfield. He will likely see playing time on special teams during his first year of play as well.
